Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Doesn’t Hold Back On Ezekiel Elliott Reunion

The Dallas Cowboys signed running back Ezekiel Elliott earlier this week, and quarterback Dak Prescott is thrilled about the reunion.

“Super excited,” Prescott said, via Jon Machota of The Athletic. “Knowing our history, my experience with him as a brother, but in this case as a teammate. Understanding what he brings to the team, just the locker room alone, the culture he sets. A guy that does everything the right way.”

Prescott and Elliott entered the NFL the same year in 2016. The Cowboys took Elliott with the fourth overall pick, and they drafted Prescott in the fourth round.

Of course, Tony Romo was supposed to be the starting signal-caller heading into that season, but he suffered an injury in preseason, opening the door for Prescott.

Prescott never looked back and has been Dallas’ starting quarterback ever since.

Elliott got off to a fantastic start in his rookie campaign, leading the NFL with 1,631 rushing yards en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

The Ohio State product spent the first seven years of his career with the Cowboys, making three trips to the Pro Bowl in total and pacing the league in rushing twice.

However, as time wore on, Elliott began to decline, and in his final season in Dallas in 2022, he rushed for 876 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging just 3.9 yards per carry.

The Cowboys allowed him to walk to the New England Patriots last offseason, and in one season with the Patriots, Elliott registered 642 yards and three scores, logging a meager 3.5 yards per attempt.

Elliott may no longer be the same elite rusher he was five years ago, but he will bring some much-needed veteran savvy to a Dallas backfield that is in dire need of it.

Who knows? Perhaps Ezekiel Elliott will be able to turn back the clock, and if he does, Dak Prescott will certainly reap some major benefits from it.
