'Want to make as much noise,' BKFC helmsman David Feldman wants to make WAVES with Conor McGregor hands-on in the business

Conor McGregor recently turned heads with his philanthropy and earnest endeavors as a combat sports promoter. During the BKFC KnuckleMania 4 card broadcast, BKFC president David Feldman divulged the UFC superstar’s investment. The Irishman, through his McGregor Sports & Entertainment, is a part-owner. However, the extra funding isn’t why Feldman hopes for the partnership. He wants the “Conor McGregor” effect to bolster the promotion.

Before Mike Perry’s feature appearance at the BKFC “KnuckleMania” 4 headliner, he spoofed a staredown with him at BKFC 41 in April 2023. According to Feldman, that’s when talks of an executive role began for the consensus superstar. Even beyond the partnership with this Forged Irish stout, McGregor – the new owner of BKFC- has always revered the sport, Feldman said at the KnuckleMania 4 press conference. Now, he pitches in his side of things.

There’s a lot of people throwing money in the combat sports landscape right now, [but] the money isn’t the hardest thing to come by... It’s getting the right partnership...We didn’t want just a money partnership with Conor McGregor... We want input, we want his persona, we want him to blow it up and do the things that he does...He’s got great ideas...phenomenal business acumen...so we don’t want him to be quiet. We want to make as much noise as possible. David Feldman to MMA Junkie’s Danny Segura

This isn’t the first time David Feldman has reiterated his wishes for an active participation from the Irishman. Speaking to Sirius XM’s MMA Today, Feldman revealed that Conor McGregor will have a say in how BKFC operates. McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) is a former two-division title holder and the undisputed buyout factor in UFC’s top listings. Banking on his superstardom, Feldman hopes he’ll bring the same attention to BKFC.

Other than part-ownership stakes, his Proper No. Twelve and Forged Irish Stout have also served as sponsors for BKFC. Alongside, McGregor is now a proper sanction board member who can provide valuable input to the intricate workings. Aspiring to be the No. 2 global combat sports promotion, Feldman thinks his inclusion solidifies that.

David Feldman was hesitant about Conor McGregor’s UFC roots and didn’t consider them competition

Conor McGregor has been making big news lately, but outside of the scope of the octagon. During the KnuckleMania 4 card broadcast, a video reel package from ‘The Notorious’ stated that he and McGregor Sports & Entertainment are part-owners of BKFC. Since then, McGregor has signed his contractual obligation and also completed photo ops for the purpose.

Speaking to MMA Junkie’s coverage journo Danny Segura, Feldman recently touched on the new ownership terms. The UFC superstar was spot on in the headlines after revealing his investment in BKFC; Feldman threw his full support behind it. However, his natural involvement with BKFC came out of the woodwork for many. Given that he’s still on UFC’s active roster.

There’s a lot of things out there in sponsorships, ...TV deals, and different types of investments and different places to do fights, and I think all of those things, Conor lends a big hand in...It was never something...until it came up, We were obviously a little hesitant on it because he’s a UFC guy, he’s their fighter, and he has fights left with them... David Feldman to MMA Junkie’s Danny Segura

However, Feldman postulates that his company and UFC do not clash in scale or even the scope of sport. Bare-knuckle boxing vastly differs from any other mix-rule martial arts that have padded protection involved. Despite gunning for the same fighters a few times, he does not think McGregor’s role would rile up interpersonal workings between the two.
