Atlanta Braves Receive High Grades in Month of April
Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

As expected, the Atlanta Braves are off to a great start this season. In a recent article by ESPN, they received a solid grade of an “A” for their performance in April.

It has been a strong start to the 2024 season for the Braves after a somewhat disappointing postseason. With a young roster and a lot of stars, the Braves are going to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

With April in the rearview mirror, the Braves are one of the best teams in the NL and that shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone. Recently, ESPN gave them a grade of “A” for their play in the first month of the season. Here’s what they had to say.

“Well, let’s see: Spencer Strider is out for the season, Max Fried isn’t pitching the best ball of his life, Ronald Acuna Jr. has one home run, and Matt Olson and Austin Riley haven’t gotten going, compared to last season. And the Braves still have the best record in the National League. Yes, they’ve taken advantage of an easy schedule with 11 games against the so-far horrible Marlins, Astros, and White Sox. Still, they also won series against the Phillies, Rangers, and Guardians and swept the Diamondbacks. It’s a little scary to think how many wins they might rack up once Acuna, Olson, and Riley heat up.”

The big blow for the Braves is the loss of Spencer Strider for the season. When healthy, Strider is one of the best pitchers in the league and losing him could impact their ability to succeed in the long haul.

As mentioned, the Braves haven’t gotten the MVP-level performance from Ronald Acuna Jr. either. Despite all of this, the Braves are still winning a lot of games and look to be a true contender once again.

Even with some injuries and struggles, expect to see high grades from the Braves for most of the season.
